In this unit students will explore a range of moral issues and religious attitudes towards them, such as abortion, euthanasia, animal rights the origins of the universe and the use and abuse of the environment. |

Term 2 | Crime and Punishment | |

Students will consider the aims of punishment including; retribution, deterrence, reformation. They will look at the treatment of criminals including prison, corporal punishment, community service, forgiveness and the death penalty. They will consider ethical arguments related to the death penalty including those based on the principle of utility and the sanctity of life. |
