KS4 Curriculum Guide - Year 11 Religion & Philosophy
Term 1Religion and Life   
In this unit students will explore a range of moral issues and religious attitudes towards them, such as abortion, euthanasia, animal rights the origins of the universe and the use and abuse of the environment.

Term 2Crime and Punishment  
Students will consider the aims of punishment including; retribution, deterrence, reformation. They will look at the treatment of criminals including prison, corporal punishment, community service, forgiveness and the death penalty. They will consider ethical arguments related to the death penalty including those based on the principle of utility and the sanctity of life.

Term 3Complete content and revision   
Students will complete the Religion, Peace and Conflict unit and finish up the course before beginning revision.

Term 4Revision
Students will revise: Christian Beliefs Christian Practices Muslim Beliefs Muslim Practices Relationships and Families Crime and Punishment Peace and Conflict Religion and Life In preparation for their GCSE exams they will be assessed regularly.
