6th Form Curriculum Guide - Year 13 Design Technology
Term 1Iterative Cycle 2   
Students will apply their knowledge, understanding and skills of designing and manufacturing prototypes and products to their chosen situation and problems through the continuation of their final NEA. They will demonstrate their higher thinking skills to solve problems and evaluate situations and suitability of design solutions.
Assessment: Students will complete fortnightly assessments covering all technical knowledge and deep design understanding. They will practice exam technique using a variety of retrieval techniques. Component 1: 1.5 hours, written paper 26% Component 2: 2 hours, written paper 24% Component 3: NEA, 50% Key Words and Terms
 
Term 2Iterative Cycle 3

Term 3 Iterative Cycle 4   
Students will apply their knowledge, understanding and skills of designing and manufacturing prototypes and products to their chosen situation and problems through the continuation of their final NEA. They will demonstrate their higher thinking skills to solve problems and evaluate situations and suitability of design solutions. This will be their final iterative cycle which will include modification based on their stakeholders feedback.
Assessment: Students will complete fortnightly assessments covering all technical knowledge and deep design understanding. They will practice exam technique using a variety of retrieval techniques. Component 1: 1.5 hours, written paper 26% Component 2: 2 hours, written paper 24% Component 3: NEA, 50% Key Words and Terms
 
Term 4Revision 
Students will review and revise all theory topics and practice exam techniques for both paper 1 and paper 2. Students will be supported to create revision resources for themselves.
Assessment: Students will complete weekly assessments to practice exam techniques.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 5Revision 
Students will review and revise all theory topics and practice exam techniques for both paper 1 and paper 2. Students will be supported to create revision resources for themselves.
