Term 1.1Theme 1. Unit 1. Changes in Family Structures   
This unit deals with the changing family structure in France, focusing on: - how the structure of the family is changing - how the institution of marriage is changing - relationships within the family unit
Assessment: Students will complete an end of unit assessment on content covered. This will consist of: a listening and reading comprehension, a translation and regular vocabulary tests on key terms. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 1.2Theme 1. Unit 2. Education   
This Unit deals with the educational system in France. It will focus on: - how the French education system is structured - issues French students might have - higher education in France - ways of adapting to working life
Assessment: Students will be assessed by an End of Unit test which will cover the following skills: - listening and reading comprehension - translation (French to English) - vocabulary test on key expressionsKey Words and Terms
 
Term 2.1Theme 1. Unit 3. The World of Work   
This unit of work deals with the world of work in France, focusing on: - work-life balance and attitudes towards work in France - reasons why people strike, their rights and trade union intervention - gender discrimination in the workplace

Term 2.2Theme 1. Unit 4. Music   
This unit looks at music in France. It will focus on the following topics: - Francophone music - the popular musical genre, 'La chanson française' and Haitian music - the influence of Francophone music
Assessment: Students will complete an end of unit test which will consist of: - listening and reading comprehension - Task one of Speaking exam - translation from French to English - vocabulary test on key terms and expressionsKey Words and Terms
 
Term 3.1Theme 2. Unit 4. Political and Artistic Culture in Francophone Countries   
This unit looks at music in France, focusing on: - Francophone music - the popular music genre, 'la chanson française' and Haitian music - the influence of Francophone music

This unit of study looks at the media in France. It focuses on: - freedom of speech in francophone countries - print and online media in francophone countries - the effect of the media on politics and society in francophone countries

Term 4Theme 2. Unit 6. Festivals and Traditions   
This Unit looks at French festivals and traditions, focusing on: - celebrations in francophone counrtries - learning more about French and francophone festivals - customs and traditions in France - customs and traditions in francophone countries
Assessment: Students will complete and end of unit test. This will consist of the following: - listening and reading comprehension - speaking presentation on a festival studied - vocabulary test based on unit contentKey Words and Terms
 
Term 5Film Study   
Through studying 'La Haine', directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, this term, students will: - develop a detailed understanding and appreciation of film, by writing critical and analytical responses in French. - produce responses that show critical appreciation of features such as: - key concepts and issues - characterisation; - form and technique of presentation, e.g. effect of narrative voice in prose text, effect of camera work in film - social and cultural setting; as appropriate to the work studied - present viewpoints, develop arguments, draw conclusions, analyse and evaluate in writing
Assessment: Students will complete an exam-style essay on 'La Haine'. This help to prepare them from Paper 2 of A-level. Students will also complete a vocab and translation assessment.Key Words and Terms
