KS4 Curriculum Guide - Year 11 Design Technology
Term 1NEA iterative cycle 2 - design development  
Students will use skills from unit 1 throughout their lessons and develop the knowledge they have learnt in home work tasks. These tasks will also focus on exam techniques. Students will set about their individual NEA projects with the support of their own manufacturing plans, designs and staff. Throughout the process they will continual assess their work through the form of a manufacturing diary. This will enable them to record any changes or problems they have overcome.
Assessment: Students will use a range of revision techniques to recall key technical knowledge and practice extended written and design based questions. These will be completed on a weekly basis. Formal feedback is not permitted for NEA work.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 2NEA interative cyle 3 - manufacture   
Students will recap all previously learnt topics and have a chance to gain further exam preparation by practising a range of previous exam papers. Students will be encouraged to highlight the topics they wish to focus on so revision can be concise and effective. Revision will also include mini focused practical tasks to engage students and to sustain progress. Students will continue with their individual NEA projects with the support of their own manufacturing plans, designs and staff. Throughout the process they will continual assess their work through the form of a manufacturing diary. This will enable them to record any changes or problems they have overcome.

Term 3NEA iterative cycle 4 - evaluation and modification  
Students will recap all previously learnt topics and have a chance to gain further exam preparation by practising a range of previous exam papers. Students will be encouraged to highlight the topics they wish to focus on so revision can be concise and effective. Revision will also include mini focused practical tasks to engage students and to sustain progress. Students will make final amendments to their work for their final NEA. Each student will test their final product against their design criteria and manufacturing specification. This will include the testing of the product on its intended customers. These results and the support of the manufacturing diary will then enable students to write a final evaluation of their product.
