KS4 Curriculum Guide - Year 11 History
Term 1Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941-1991   
This unit covers the Period Study element of the Edexcel GCSE course, during which students will examine key events and themes from this period. This unit makes up 20% of the GCSE course and is examined in Paper 2. Students will investigate a range of hotspots throughout this conflict including Hungary, Cuba, Germany, Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union and America to develop an understanding of the global context of the war. Students will also examine the roles of key individuals and organisations in the freezing and thawing of relations between the east and west from 1941-1991.
Assessment: Students will complete a range of practice questions to develop their technique and application of historical knowledge throughout the unit. Upon completion, they will complete a mock for this section of Paper 2. Key Words and Terms

This unit is the British Depth study element of the Edexcel GCSE course and Early Elizabethan England, 1558 - 1588. This unit makes up 20% of the GCSE course and is examined in Paper 2. Within this depth study students will learn about society, events and people from the time period, exploring how the different aspects of the period fit together. Students will focus on the changes and challenges of the Elizabethan era and the impact on all aspects of English life including religion, politics, foreign relations, society and age of exploration.

Term 4Early Elizabethan England, 1558 - 1588

Term 5GCSE Examination Revision   
Students will revise the topics studied for GCSE through various methods and mediums. They will commit key facts to memory and practice sample questions in order to hone their examination techniques.
