Students will use a variety of phrases to give opinions, talk about their week, discuss films and birthdays as well as considering what life is like as a celebrity. They will revisit the irregular and regular verbs in the present tense, revising the near future and preterite tenses and how to use three tenses together.
Students will complete listening and reading tasks based on longer, more complex texts. Question types will start to mirror GCSE Foundation style in order to begin to prepare students for GCSE level tasks.
Students discuss working life and what jobs people would like to do in the future. The expression 'tener que' will be introduced and there is also a focus on adjective agreement and using the near future tense. Students become confident combining tenses.
Assessment will be regular in the form of vocabulary tests. There will be a longer writing task to complete and students will also give a presentation about a part-time job which will includes three tenses.
Coming just before options choices, this is a great time for students to consider their like and dislikes around the working world and what priorities they have
Students will learn to talk about health and leading an active lifestyle. They will discuss how people keep fit and typical activities throughout a day. They will also talk about pains and illnesses that they may have. Grammatical features include direct object pronouns, stem-changing verbs abd reflexive verbs as well as the constructions 'me duele(n)' and '(no) se debe'. Students will be introduced to spanish idioms through the medium of spanish poetry and will then teach a dance routing using the imperative.
In the context of visiting the Spanish capital, students will practise meeting and greeting people, discuss activities and buying souvenirs. They will be introduced to future tense to say what they will do whilst in the city.
Students complete a speaking assessments based on transactional language (role play and photocard) and a longer writing piece of up to 80 words of a holiday journal entry.
